FLIGHT UNIT STUDENT REFLECTIONS

What reflections can you make based on your new learning experiences throughout the Flight Unit?

Students are to provide a snapshot of their reflections before finalizing a detailed reflection with evidence from their learning experiences this term through a choice of media (Photo Story / Comic Life / Audacity / Podcast / Movie Maker / Posting / Scanned Document). We are all looking forward to viewing / reading / listening to your reflections about your learning experiences. Keep up the great work everyone :o)

  1. I have never used technology in school until I came to Canada and this school. I really enjoy using technology because it is fun and different. The ipods at the museum trip was a lot of fun and I was surprised how I sounded when I listened to my recording. I like the digital cameras and then using Photo Story to put together my ideas. I am working on my final reflection in Photo Story and then I will speak into it about what I think of this unit and all the technology we used. JESSICA

  2. Using technology in school is always fun. I liked using Atomic Learning because I was able to help myself learn things without asking the teacher all of the time. Like how to include sound clips in Audacity. I have created several podcasts this term and have been the student leader in the class to support everyone with their podcast. I also have done a lot of the introductions to set up the podcast too. I really liked the opportunity to be responsible for something like podcasting for our class. Chris

  3. This flight unit rocked. The best part was when we went to the aerospace museum. Selah, Salena and I are going to do a comic about what we've learnt in the flight unit for our reflection. Adayln

  4. The flight unit was a great experience for me. The bit that helped me the most was the project on perspectives of aviation. That's the part that I will be reflecting on. The place that I am putting my reflection together on is Comic Life. Salim

  5. Dear Ms Tavares, I would like to do my reflection project on how many hands-on activities, field trips and technology is much more better and effective than having to read out of a text book and fill in worksheets all of the time. If I am allowed to, I would like to present my reflection in a digital slide show. I will need access to class photos to do this. Thanks Michaela

  6. I'm really enjoyed working on the flight reflection and I also enjoyed doing all the hands-on activities instead of just simply reading from a boring old text book. We're still learning lots about aviation but in a fun and modern way. Thanks ms.T, your the best! Salena

  7. The Flight Unit was really fun and a great experience for everyone. For me, I learned how to use audacity for voice recordings and photostory for a picture slideshow to share ideas. In addition, we got to use ipods and digital cameras to upload onto audacity and photostory. The grade six classes got to build kites and test them out. Too bad the kite our group built was too heavy and crashed during the test flight. The perspectives of aviation project was great because we got to learn about how airplanes affect different types of areas around the world and our community. My favourite part in the Flight Unit was that we get partnered up to build a hot air tissue paper balloon. We got to fly them in the gym after everybody was finished. I love the Air and Space museum was one of the best field trips I have ever went to in my 8 years at McMurrich. We got to learn about different types of old planes and ones that crashed like the Nimrod. We also got to learn about planes that were named after animals such as the "Chipmunk" and the "Hornet". I had a great experience during our Flight Unit, I hope that the kids next year will have just as much fun learning! Eric

  11. It is rewarding to hear that when students look back at their learning, their are able to reflect on what they learned and enjoyed most. Our Flight Unit will begin sometime in Term 2 as we are building a knowledge base in other areas and experiences to ensure that this years students achieve the same or greater success. Thanks for sharing Eric :o)
